Duathlon

The Kickapoo Rail Trail is near and dear to our hearts. That’s why we created the Kickapoo Rail Trail Duathlon! We wanted to put on a healthy event in Vermilion County that would not only draw locals but participants from around the region. All the proceeds from the Duathlon will directly benefit the fundraising efforts of the Kickapoo Rail Trail Project. We hope you’ll join us!

We created three different levels so everyone can participate!

FUN DUATHLON – This Duathlon category is for those who are out to have an enjoyable day with us! The 5K portion is an optional walk or run inside beautiful Kickapoo State Park. Following your 5K, you’ll hop on your bike and take off west of Kickapoo into a scenic Vermilion County area where you’ll cycle through a wind farm! Once your 19-mile adventure ends, your race is complete!

TWO-PERSON RELAY – We created this segment for people who may only have the ability to run or walk a 5K but are not able to cycle or vice versa. But quite possibly, the two-person relay team is just simply to be with your friend and have a great time! Either way, we know you’ll enjoy your time with us! This Two-Person Relay is the same course as the Fun Duathlon.

COMPETITIVE DUATHLON – This is what duathletes crave! This is a traditional duathlon starting with a 5K followed by a 30-mile cycling course throughout scenic Vermilion County and a wind farm. This course has a challenging climax to its cycling portion where you will cycle a 4-mile loop inside Kickapoo State Park and climb a challenging hill near the end of your 30 miles! Once you’ve completed the cycling portion, you’ll end up back at the 5K course to finish off your duathlon with another 5K!

NEW 2-PERSON COMPETITIVE DUATHLON – New to the Duathlon this year is the Competitive Relay! One person participates in BOTH 5K runs and the other partipates in the 30-mile bike event.
